Poison

“What are you looking at? ” My gorgeous human glares at me. He seems piss. Of course, it has to be me that make him upset.

I can’t stop looking at him. I used to see only his shoes, his trousers and his legs. I was a tiny cat. Now I’m still smaller than him but finally I can see what human see.

They are lucky. They can see my Riley this close. His eyes, nose and lips. Everything is so fine. His light brown hair looks soft. I unconsciously reaches out to touch it. He flinches, automatically grabs on my wrist.

“What are you thinking? What’s your plan? You’ve stared at my house for an hour and now stares at me. If you want to say something, just say it! ”

I’m standing in his yard, next to my grave. Admiring all of the flowers which he bought for me. Other than that I don’t know what to do or where to go. I do what I used to do. Walking after him from the bus stop to his house. Playing with the grass on his yard. Take a long nap around his house. Find some food from neighbor bins. Following and waiting to see him get on the bus. Until he comes back, everything runs in a loop.

I know. Today isn’t like other day. I’m not an ugly black cat anymore. So he talks to me. He looks at me. He touches me. Can someone die from excessively pleasure?

Oh, I forgot. I already died once.

“I love you.”

I can speak! Do you hear that Riley? My heart is ready to explode. I can talk. We are talking. I can tell how much I feel for him now.

“What? Are you an idiot? This isn’t funny.”

He doesn’t look happy. Maybe I should wish to be a girl. I forgot that both of us are boys.

“Go away before I call a cop. If I see you around my house again, you will be in jail.”

I know what jail is. I have been in there three times. Luckily, I can escape before someone inject poison in my veins. My happiness disappears the moment I see how irritatedly he is. I have to walk away and watch him from afar.

It’s cold outside. Human fur is too thin. Human body is weak. I can’t jump on the wall. Can’t go to sleep on the roof. And very starving. I look into the bin and randomly eat anything that looks like food. Human nose can’t smell as good as cat does.

In the end, my stomach hurts. I feel uneasy. Something might be poisonous.

“Weirdo! Did you just eat my rotten hamburger? God damnit.”

That’s his voice! Hurriedly, I sit down behind the bin. The pain increases rapidly. I can’t run away. Will he send me to jail? Will he get angry? I try to go inside the litter. His footsteps seem so close. Unexpectedly, he lift me up. Hold me in his arm.

“What are you? A cat? You can’t go inside that small bin, you fool.”

I can stay inside dirty trash forever. Just to be held by him like this. My stomach still hurt like someone is squeezing it. But I don’t mind to be poisoned. Because of his expired food, he carries me to his home.

My goodness, this is indeed sweet poison.

"มองอะไรของนาย" มนุษย์ผู้แสนสง่างามของผมจ้องเขม็งมา เขาดูหงุดหงิด แน่ล่ะ ต้องเป็นเพราะผมที่ทำให้เขาอารมณ์เสีย

ผมหยุดมองเขาไม่ได้ ผมเคยชินกับการเห็นแค่รองเท้า กางเกง และขาของเขา ตอนนั้นผมเป็นแค่แมวตัวเล็กๆ ตอนนี้ผมก็ยังตัวเล็กกว่าเขา แต่ในที่สุดผมได้รับรู้ว่ามนุษย์มองเห็นอะไร

พวกเขาโชคดีจัง พวกเขาสามารถเห็นไรลีย์ได้ใกล้ขนาดนี้ ตาของเขา จมูก และริมฝีปาก ทุกอย่างช่างงดงาม ผมสีน้ำตาลอ่อนของเขาดูอ่อนนุ่ม ผมเอื้อมมือไปสัมผัสมันโดยไม่ได้ตั้งใจ เขาผงะ คว้าข้อมือผมไว้อัตโนมัติ

"คิดอะไรของนายอยู่ วางแผนอะไรไว้ นายจ้องมาที่บ้านของฉันเป็นชั่วโมง และตอนนี้มาจ้องหน้าฉัน ถ้าอยากจะพูดอะไรก็พูดออกมาเลยสิ! "

ผมกำลังยืนอยู่ที่สนามหญ้าของเขา ข้างหลุมศพผม ชื่นชมดอกไม้ทั้งหมดที่เขาซื้อมาให้ นอกเหนือไปจากนั้นผมก็ไม่รู้ว่าจะทำอะไรหรือไปที่ไหน ผมทำสิ่งที่ผมเคยทำ เดินตามเขาจากป้ายรถประจำทางไปถึงบ้าน เล่นกับหญ้าที่สวนของเขา นอนงีบยาวแถวๆ บ้านเขา หาอาหารจากถังขยะของเพื่อนบ้าน ตามเขาและรอดูเขาขึ้นรถบัสออกไป จนเขากลับมาใหม่ ทุกอย่างวนซ้ำแบบนั้น

ผมรู้ วันนี้ไม่เหมือนวันอื่น ผมไม่ใช่แมวดำน่าเกลียดอีกแล้ว ดังนั้นเขาจึงคุยกับผม มองผม สัมผัสผม คนเราสามารถตายจากความยินดีที่มากเกินไปนี้ได้ไหม

โอ้ ผมลืมไป ผมตายไปแล้วครั้งหนึ่ง

"ผมรักคุณ"

ผมพูดได้! คุณได้ยินไหมไรลีย์ หัวใจผมเตรียมพร้อมที่จะปะทุออก ผมคุยได้ เรากำลังคุยกัน ตอนนี้ผมสามารถบอกเขาได้ว่าผมรู้สึกกับเขามากขนาดไหน

"อะไร เป็นบ้าเหรอ นี่ไม่ตลกนะ"

เขาไม่ได้ดีใจ บางทีผมควรขอให้ตัวเองเป็นผู้หญิง ผมลืมไปว่าเราทั้งคู่เป็นผู้ชาย

"ไปให้พ้นก่อนที่ฉันจะเรียกตำรวจ ถ้าฉันเห็นนายแถวบ้านฉันอีก นายได้อยู่ในคุกแน่"

ผมรู้ว่าคุกคืออะไร ผมเคยอยู่ในนั้นสามครั้ง โชคดีที่ผมหนีออกมาได้ก่อนมีคนฉีดยาพิษเข้าเส้นเลือด ความสุขของผมจางหายไปทันทีที่เห็นว่าเขาอารมณ์ไม่ดีแค่ไหน ผมต้องเดินจากมาและมองเขาจากที่ไกลๆ

ข้างนอกนั้นหนาวเหน็บ ขนของมนุษย์บางเกินไป ร่างกายของมนุษย์อ่อนแอ ผมไม่อาจกระโดดขึ้นกำแพง ไม่อาจนอนบนหลังคา และหิวโหย ผมมองเข้าไปในถังขยะ สุ่มกินอะไรก็ตามที่เหมือนอาหาร จมูกของมนุษย์ไม่สามารถดมได้ดีเท่ากับของแมว

ในท้ายสุด ท้องของผมเจ็บ ผมรู้สึกไม่ค่อยสบาย บางอย่างคงเป็นพิษ

"เด็กพิลึก! นายเพิ่งกินแฮมเบอร์เกอร์บูดของฉันไปเหรอ ให้ตายเถอะ"

นั่นเสียงเขา! ผมรีบเร่งนั่งลงหลังถังขยะ ความเจ็บปวดเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างรวดเร็ว ผมไม่อาจวิ่งหนีได้ เขาจะส่งผมไปที่คุกไหม เขาจะโกรธรึเปล่า ผมพยายามจะเข้าไปอยู่ในถัง ได้ยินเสียงฝีเท้าเขาใกล้เข้ามา โดยไม่ได้คาดคิดเขายกตัวผมขึ้น โอบกอดผมไว้ในอ้อมแขน

"นายเป็นอะไร แมว? นายเข้าไปในถังขยะเล็กๆ นั่นไม่ได้ เด็กโง่"

ผมสามารถอยู่ในขยะสกปรกตลอดไป ถ้าเพียงแต่มีเขากอดผมอยู่อย่างนี้ ท้องของผมยังคงเจ็บเหมือนมีคนมาบีบมัน แต่ผมไม่ถือสาที่จะโดนพิษ เพราะว่าอาหารหมดอายุนั้น ทำให้เขาพาผมกลับบ้าน

พระเจ้า นี่คือยาพิษที่แสนหวานจริงๆ

Poison ยาพิษ แต่เป็นยาพิษที่หวานจับใจเลยทีเดียว ไรลียพาน้องแมวเข้าบ้านด้วย

ลองคิดในอีกมุมว่ามีคนมายืนจ้องบ้านเรา จ้องหน้าเรา จู่ๆ บอกรักเฉยก็น่ากลัวนะคะ 5555
