    Here comes the Autumn! What a perfect time of the year for a fresh start. Like Scott Fitzgerald once said, “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” Autumn symbolizes new beginnings, growth, and change since it is a time when nature undergoes various changes that significantly affect our lives. Autumn is the time when the cool breeze arrives, the hot breeze from a long summer is blown away, the beautiful blossoms are replaced with crisp leaves, and all the colors of the leaves turn red, orange, and yellow. Those sign of Autumn reminds us of the changes.


    In the same way as our life, Autumn is the perfect season to welcome change and make resolutions for self-improvement. A new season will inspire us to consider what newness we wish to bring to our life. This idea usually appears at the start of the year or what we call the new year resolution. But why can’t we start to change now rather than wait until the 1st of January? Then, what should we include in our autumn resolution? Let me provide you with some hints and tips:

  • SELF-LOVE


    Loving yourself must be the very first priority on the list of self-improvement as it is a prerequisite for living a positive and present life. With self-love, you can do anything. Include something good for your mind and body on the list. For example, lessen your phone time and interaction with others and yourself, give yourself a break from work to stretch or move your body, eat healthier while indulging yourself in having your favorite food sometimes, and practicing self-reflection to improve self-awareness, which is eventually the first step in achieving self-love.


    ENCOUNTER NEW THINGS


    As a sign of new beginnings, Autumn is an excellent time to learn new things. Do something that allows yourself to confront something new to freshen your life: Gain new skills, learn new languages, travel to unknown places, and meet new people. Find new skills to learn, such as cooking, yoga, or playing any musical instrument. Autumn is the perfect time for nature travel since nature is mesmerizing this season. Ontario, Canada, and Utrecht, Netherlands, are some of the Autumn destinations with the charming shade of yellow, orange, and red tinge those places under the Autumn spell. Let’s add those cities as places to visit in Autumn! 


    GOAL


        The goal seems like a future-focused idea. However, consistency and current solid practice are essential for turning imaginary hope into a reality. The beginning of the new season is a great time to ask yourself what you desire for the future and then act toward achieving your goal. To make your dream a reality, include it in your Autumn resolution. Listing it out will make you achieve your dream easier. For example, if you dream of having a fit body, try to work out for at least 30 minutes each day. If you dream of losing weight, eat more healthy food. If you have a goal to get straight A’s in the exam, study hard. And if you have a plan to vacation to your dream country, save 20% of your income each month. 


    BREAK BAD HABITS


    Many leaves had rotted and been damaged by insects before the beginning of Autumn. Losing them gives the plants a fresh start. So, let’s throw away bad behaviors like plants that shed their dry leaves. Bad habits adversely affect your mental and physical well-being, interrupting your life and preventing you from achieving your goals. However, we don’t remove a bad habit; instead, we replace it with a new practice that delivers a similar advantage. For example, if you want to avoid checking your phone first thing in the morning, make a resolution to do something else instead, such as stretching in bed after waking up or drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning. 


    Conclusion 

    These are all possible determinations you may apply as part of your Autumn resolution to bring improvements to make your life become better, healthier, and happier. For some aspects, change might be terrifying as Autumn is the time when all the leaves fall from the trees leaving bare trees looking like they are dying; however, when the time goes by, the new leaves will regrow again together with the beautiful flower will bloom. On one side, Autumn symbolizes decay, aging, or even death; on the other side, it is a sign of revival, transformation, and growth. Changes allow us to progress in our lives and experience new things, and there is no perfect time for self-reflection and welcoming change than Autumn.
