After finishing reading “The Shape of Water”, “Beauty” is the first word that popped up in my mind. Actually, I had watched this movie in a theatre last year and later on, I bought this novel to read it as well too. After watching this movie for the first time, “beauty” “beauty” “beauty” and “beauty” is the first word that popped up on my mind. Moreover, after finish reading this novel last year, the word “beauty” that popped up in my mind increased more than watching it as a movie. Just now I had finished reading this novel for my second time, the word “beauty” still remains on my mind as the same. I think this story whether it is occurring in a novel or movie versions is so beautiful because of harmony in humanity through main characters in this story. I dare not say that there are bad characters nor good characters in this story. I just perceived humanity in every character in the story as a normal human being. As a human being, we are selfish, struggle, hopeful and hopeless. Therefore, I think everyone is grey. No one is white or black. Just grey. The colour of grey is the only colour that can describe humans the most. Everyone is grey but just is in different shades of it.

Strictland has to do anything for getting his freedom back and returning to his family, so he can do anything for those things.

Dr.Hoffler  has to leave his real identity and have to do things that he doesn’t want to protect his family and himself from the Soviet government.

Elisa has to steal a Fishman from Okkum in order to save his life.

The Fishman has to kill Strictland to let him go from the oppression of his head.

Selda has to lie so that Elisa and she can survive from danger.

I mentioned these things to emphasise that everyone has their own reasons to do anything that even sometimes we couldn’t understand or accept it. It happened like this because we are a human being. We all are different. Some people might have the power to raise their voices against something or protect something but some people are not even to do that.

I learned a lot from this story. I learned that if we do not have the power to raise our voices, we have just two options. First, start to do something even it might be risky because every change takes a risk but an important thing that we know is knowing nothing about the future that we change it today. Second, do nothing and surrender with the present. Sometimes we do have choices and sometimes we don’t have them. Every single thing depends on us.

In my case, I just have to observe things first and then decide to do something or not to do something.

หลังจากที่ได้อ่านเรื่องนี้จบ “ความสวยงาม” คือคำแรกที่ผุดขึ้นมาในหัวเราเลยอันที่จริงเราเคยดูหนังเรื่องนี้ตอนที่ออกโรงมาใหม่ๆแล้วเราชอบตัวหนังเป็นทุนเดิมด้วยอยู่แล้วเลยซื้อหนังสือมาอ่านสะสมด้วยอีกทีหนึ่งตอนที่เราดูหนังจบครั้งแรก “ความสวยงาม” ก็มีแต่คำนี้ผุดขึ้นมาในหัวเราเต็มไปหมดแต่พอได้มาอ่านเป็นฉบับนิยายแล้วรู้สึกว่าคำสวยงามมันมีมากกว่านั้นมาก

เรารู้สึกว่าไม่ว่าจะดูเรื่องนี้หรืออ่านเรื่องนี้มันก็ให้ความสวยงามแก่ทั้งคนดูและคนอ่านเพราะว่าเนื้อเรื่องนั้นและตัวละครต่างๆมันผสมผสานออกมาได้อย่างลงตัวเราไม่กล้าที่จะบอกว่ามีตัวละครดีที่ดีหรือตัวละครที่เลวในเรื่องนี้ด้วยความเป็นมนุษย์นั้นพวกเราทั้งเห็นแก่ตัวดิ้นทุรุนทุรายมีทั้งความหวังและสิ้นหวังปะปนกันไปเพราะฉะนั้นเราถึงคิดว่ามนุษย์ทุกคนล้วนเป็นสีเทาไม่มีใครดำร้อยเปอร์เซ็นต์และก็ไม่มีใครขาวร้อยเปอร์เซ็นต์ทุกคนเป็นสีเทาเหมือนกันหมดแต่แค่จะอยู่เฉดไหนของสีเทา

Strictland จะต้องทำทุกอย่างเพื่อที่จะได้อิสระกลับคืนมาและจะได้กลับบ้านไปอยู่กับครอบครัวของตนเองถึงแม้ว่าเขาจะต้องทำเลวก็ตาม

Dr. Hoffler จะต้องทองทิ้งความเป็นตัวตนของตัวเองเพื่อที่จะปกป้องครอบครัวและตัวเองออกจากรัฐบาลโซเวียต

Elisa ต้องขโมยตัวเดอุสบรังเกียเพื่อที่จะช่วยชีวิตเขา

ตัวเดอุสบรังเกียต้องฆ่า Strictland เพื่อที่จะปล่อยให้เขาเป็นอิสระจากการถูกกดขี่และความกดดันต่างๆในชีวิตของเขา

Selda จะต้องโกหกเพื่อที่จะให้ Elisa และตัวเธอเองอยู่รอดและพ้นจากภัยอันตรายต่างๆ 

เรายกตัวอย่างการกระทำของตัวละครต่างๆเพื่อต้องการจะย้ำว่าทุกคนล้วนมีเหตุผลที่จะทำอะไรบางอย่างที่คนอื่นไม่เข้าใจและไม่สามารถทำใจยอมรับมันได้เหตุการณ์พวกนี้มันเกิดขึ้นบ่อยครั้งเพราะว่าพวกเรานั้นเป็นมนุษย์พวกเราทุกคนนั้นล้วนแตกต่างคนบางกลุ่มอาจจะมีอำนาจที่จะยกเสียงของตัวเองเพื่อที่จะต่อต้านบางอย่างหรือลุกฮือขึ้นเพื่อตัวเองแต่ในขณะเดียวกันคนบางกลุ่มพวกเขาไม่มีอำนาจที่จะใช้เสียงของเขาออกมาเลยด้วยซ้ำถึงแม้ว่าเขาจะสามารถพูดได้

เราเรียนรู้สิ่งต่างๆมากมายจากการอ่านนิยายเล่มนี้เราเรียนรู้ว่าถ้าพวกเราไม่มีอำนาจที่จะใช้เสียงพวกเรามีแค่สองทางเลือกเท่านั้นเอง 

หน่ึงคือพวกเราต้องเริ่มทำอะไรบางอย่างถึงแม้ว่ามันจะเสี่ยงมากก็ตามเพราะว่าทุกการเปลี่ยนแปลงมักจะต้องแลกกับความเสี่ยงอยู่เสมอแต่สิ่งที่สำคัญคือไม่มีใครในที่นี่รู้หรอกว่าไอ้การเปลี่ยนแปลงที่เราคิดเริ่มจะเปลี่ยนมันในวันนี้มันจะส่งผลต่อวันพรุ่งนี้ได้อย่างไรบ้าง 

สองคือไม่ต้องทำอะไรเลยและพ่ายแพ้ให้กับปัจจุบันบางครั้งพวกเราก็มีตัวเลือกบางครั้งพวกเราก็ไม่มีทุกๆอย่างล้วนขึ้นอยู่กับตัวเรา

สำหรับเราแล้วโดยส่วนตัวเราจะต้องสังเกตการณ์ก่อนและค่อยตัดสินใจว่าจะทำหรือไม่ทำอะไรบางอย่างดี
