THE SUN (APRIL 2023)csptu
The Midnight Sun
  • Hello readers, welcome to Summer, the brightest season of the year. This season is abundant in sunlight, brightness, joy, and especially, the iconic uniqueness of this season, the hotness. When we think about heat, generally, we will think about the Sun, the only star of the Solar System, famous for its refulgent gleam. The Sun is a symbol of brightness, resplendence, and glory. Typically, the Sun goes down at the end of the day and rises again at the beginning of the next day. Yes, This is the “normal” circumstances that happened in “almost” all parts of the world. Have you ever thought if there is a place where the Sun remains visible at night? That sounds astonishing, right? Now you’re probably wondering if there really is a place with the period when the Sun doesn’t set. Yes, there are! Let me introduce you to “Midnight Sun”.

The Midnight Sun is a natural phenomenon where we can see the Sun 24 hours a day, with light throughout the day and night. This phenomenon will occur around the North and South Pole, in the area above the Arctic Circle or above 66.5 degrees north latitude, and below the Antarctic Circle or 66.5 degrees south latitude. That sounds amazing, right? People worldwide travel to see this phenomenon with the intention of witnessing its astonishment. There are many places where you can see the Midnight Sun, such as Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Denmark (Greenland), the USA (Alaska), etc. Today I will talk about one of the most famous spots for watching the midnight sun in the country called “Land of Midnight Sun”, Norway.

North Cape is one of the most popular destinations that many tourists wish to visit when they arrive at the “Land of the Midnight Sun”, aiming to witness the midnight sun with one’s own eyes. North Cape is located on Magerøya Island, in the Northern part of Norway. The best period to see the Midnight Sun on the North Cape is around mid-May to late July. With a height of 307 meters above sea level, you will be able to see the fascinating scenery of the sky and the sea and revel in the incomparable beauty of the midnight sun that will forever be etched in the memory of those who witness it.

I hope that this article will inspire you to go to watch the Midnight Sun somewhere in the world. Maybe you can go to watch it with your family, your friends, or even only yourself. The beautiful scenario of the Midnight Sun will make you feel wonderful. And one thing before we say goodbye, as you can see that, in general, the Sun will go down and the sunlight will go off every day, nonetheless, for the Midnight Sun, the sunlight doesn’t go down. According to that, the seemingly impossible has already happened.

So, I hope you will never lose your hope to achieve any goals that you want, especially for us as students. Please remember that things that seem impossible can happen! I know that sometimes you might feel hopeless and feel tired. But don’t lose faith in yourself, and you should believe that you can do it, even if it looks like an impossible thing. And most importantly, don’t forget to prepare and practice in order to facilitate yourself to achieve your goals. Like the midnight sun, seemingly impossible goals are achievable too. Good luck with the final exam!
